Almond Joy Protein Shake

I must confess, we are addicted to smoothies.

One day I poured almond milk into the blender with a banana, almond extract and chocolate protein powder and the flavor was out of this world good… it’s like you’re eating an almond joy candy bar, in smoothie form.

I love the almondy flavor and creamy consistency this smoothie has!

I'm new to the almond milk part of the dairy aisle too…I've just always loved milk! But seeing this recipe makes me want to go out and buy a carton! Chocolate + Almond has to be the best combo on the planet…how far away is Halloween so I can snag my kids' Almond Joys out of their trick or treat bags?

It's a nice addition to smoothies.. great flavor and creaminess without weighing smoothie down.

Thanks Kristina! Sorry for getting your name wrong the first time, no excuses there!

Right now I am between the 310XT, because I like the features (I just a runner, not a swimmer, but would like to get a bike), but the FR210 is a good option too! Oh it's so hard 😉 Thanks for the input!!

Oh yum! The chocolate shake, been having my own version for over a week… it's been lovely 🙂 I love adding almond extract, thanks for reminding me!

And Kristen, do you like your FR310XT? I have been given some $ for my birthday to finally buy a running watch… I am thinking Garmin. I know you have this kind and am wondering what you think? I'm worried it's too big and the strap is going to break, or something like that!

I don't use almond extract too much, but it goes really well with chocolate! What doesn't? I love my garmin. I got the XT because it's triathlon specific and I can wear it in the pool. It's really sad because I've had my watch for well over a year and it's way smarter than me.. I sill haven't read the manuel.. But it's on my to-do list! I like how I can view pace, time, miles, clock, all on the same screen.. and you can set it different ways depending on what you're interested in seeing. It does take some getting use to the big watch, but I like it. and I've never had a problem with the straps. I was shocked though because it's a GPS, it doesn't have a large battery life…

I'm a smoothie girl as well. I usually have one after a workout and it holds me over till lunch. I know, can you believe that I need a snack in-between breakfast and lunch some days? I do get up and eat at 5:00, so I use that as my excuse 🙂 I love almond joys and I just made up a batch of these homemade ones for a local magazine's October issue and when I saw your smoothie on Instagram, I just knew I had to come check it out. I'm definitely going to try this on the kids for an after school snack. I think they would love it!
That quinoa salad looks gorgeous. I love all the colors, so going to check it out. 😉 xoxo, Jackie

Thanks for stopping by Jackie. I almost always snack in between B/L too. I'd love to see your homemade almond joys! Do they have the magazine online or did you post the recipe on your blog? 🙂 PS- I secretly hope my future kids are adventurous eaters like yours!
