Lady Track Shack 5K Cabot Fit Team Race Recap 2017
Happy Monday friends! This weekend I ran my first race post baby so I thought I'd bring you a little recap post today. On Saturday, I ran the Lady Track Shack 5K in Orlando with the Cabot Fit Team. Cabot Cheese was the official race sponsor and when they reached out to me to put together a team for this local event, I was all in! Cheese and running and girlfriends = winning. This is a unique event in our city because it's a women's only race that raises money for women that don't have the resources for annual mammograms and diagnostic screenings! We lucked out with the weather on race morning thanks to the cold front that came through the day before... we actually had a chilly race and I wore run tights and a long sleeve shirt! Cold weather running is my favorite!! ... View Post

Eats and Fitness in Review: Week 2
Here's a look into my weekly dinner time eats and fitness, I started this Eats and Fitness in Review series last week to share what we are eating during the week and my fitness efforts. Also to answer some questions from last week about my portions. I'm eating based off hunger and fullness, it's intuitive. Some nights I have more of an appetite than others so I just listen to my body by eating when I'm satisfied and stopping when I'm full. To read more about this style of eating, check out my blog post on MyFitnessPal-- The Simple Tool That Can Help Prevent Overeating. Sunday: Sheet Pan Chicken and Veggies. Last week was a struggle with our sleep schedule after our vacation and he finally decided to go down around 7:30pm, which is his usual routine. Eric and I ... View Post
Eats and Fitness in Review: Week 1
I've posted a few WIAW "What I ate Wednesday" blogs on here in the past and you all seemed to really like them, so I figured I'd start a series of our weekly eats and workouts keep me on track with cooking at home more, accountable to my fitness routine, and to hopefully help to inspire you with ideas to answer the question, "what's for dinner?". With Parker starting to eat more than just purees and knowing how important the family meal is, we want to establish a healthy routine for him of eating together as a family. Last week was a short week for us since we were on vacation at the beach. But here's a look at our meals and workouts. Wednesday: Chicken Enchiladas with Mango Slaw. This meal was so good! I had some leftover shredded chicken in ... View Post
Parker’s Birth Story
Holy November. Where has the time gone? When it comes to having kids, they say they grow up way too fast... and I understand more fully now. I've spent my days trying to keep my head above water and learn how to care for our newborn and recover and all that stuff and now at the end of the week Parker will be a month old. Seriously? So before too much time passes I wanted to pop in on the blog to share our birth story and give you a little newborn update :) Note to my foodie only readers-- this post isn't super graphic but I will talk about some medical stuff so if you are not into that hang tight.. I'll be back with a recipe tomorrow. Is that cool? Okay-- thanks. Eric and I had a 40 weeks prenatal appointment on Friday morning, but I woke up with a little drainage-- it seemed ... View Post
Interview with Kimberly Sturgis from Clothed in Strength
Today I have a fun fitness and fashion post to share with you. I'm so excited that my dear friend Kimberly has launched her new business, Clothed in Strength and has agreed to an interview to tell us all about her new fitness company and workout tanks. Kimberly and I grew up together going to the same church and school, and her family is like family to ours. Her new fitness tanks are hot off the press and she kindly sent me one to wear. I must say, I love how soft these tanks are... like the softest workout tank I own. The fit, color and message are awesome too... it's an all around high quality tank. Thanks Kimberly doing this interview on the blog today. How do you describe your food and fitness philosophy? From my competitive sports background and cheering ... View Post

The balance of protein, carbs, and anti-inflammatory foods in this recipe is one to keep on hand after a tough sweat session or to fuel up for a race day. While carbs and protein are necessary to get right after working out, don’t forget about foods that fight inflammation to prevent muscle soreness and speed recovery. This is one reason why I incorporate Montmorency tart cherries into my diet, since ... View Post
Soooo… I’ve got a BIG secret to share!
Remember that time when you pretty much didn’t hear from me for weeks at a time? Many of you sweet friends even reached out to make sure things were okay with me because I was absent from my usual blog schedule. Well, let’s just chalk it up to the fact that the thought of cooking food made me feel nauseated. Yep, if you haven’t guessed it yet, I’m pregnant and will be 19 weeks tomorrow!! Like seriously? How did this happen so fast?? Time flies and this little bun in the oven is practically half baked already. Our baby is due this fall on October 15th. With this being our first, everything just seems so uncertain and nerve-racking. We went for our first doctor’s appointment at 9 weeks in February and at that point we got the confirmation that we were indeed prego, listened to the ... View Post
